Couple Therapy & Parenting

Couple Therapy

We offer consultations for couples grounded in the research of the Gottman Institute. Our services include support for transitioning to parenthood, embracing motherhood, and helping single parents. We provide couple therapy for reconnecting, addressing infidelity, navigating parenting challenges, and fostering respectful communication. We also assist partners with conscious uncoupling, as well as helping parents navigate divorce and support children and stepfamilies. Additionally, we offer courses and individual classes for couples seeking to strengthen their relationship.

Couple Therapy

Couple therapy is a form of psychotherapy that helps partners communicate and improve their relationship. We primarily use the Gottman method, which emphasizes open communication, deep understanding, and enhanced intimacy, based on extensive research of couples who have stayed happily married. By learning and practicing these skills, couples can gain insight into each other’s experiences and find respectful ways to disagree. This therapy is beneficial for all couples—dating, married, or separated—whether they’re facing challenges or seeking to strengthen their connection.

Couple Therapy After Infidelity

Infidelity is painful. The betrayed partner can experience  a lot of emotional pain and the betraying partner may experience much guilt. Sometimes it feels that there is no way out of this situation and that the relationship has come to an end. If the couple, however, wishes to process the trauma and commits to work on their relationship, it is possible to re-connect, re-unite and transform the relationship to bring back trust and intimacy. It may be a long and tough walk, but with strong intention, willingness and the right guidance from a professional, it is definitely possible. If you feel that you are unable to forgive, but at the same time do not wish to end your relationship, if you are committed to work things out and earn the trust of your betrayed partner again,  couple therapy could help. What was is no longer working, what will be is entirely in your hands.

Bringing Baby Home

Becoming parents brings new responsibilities and challenges that can change a couple's dynamic. It’s no longer just about the two of you; now you must navigate parenting styles, childcare decisions, and the demands of sleepless nights and exhaustion. Disagreements may arise more frequently amidst the pressures of work, finances, and family opinions. How do you transition to parenthood while supporting each other and providing the best care for your child based on their developmental needs? Our psychologists are here to help you embrace this journey with one-on-one support, courses, and training, ensuring your family is ready for the rewarding experience of parenting.

7 Principles of Making Marriage Work

This workshop is offered to couples who are in a committed relationship and who would like to deepen understanding and increase intimacy. We will learn what makes marriage work and what contributes to its deterioration. Couples will have an opportunity to engage in practical activities with each other to practise respectful communication, expression of feelings and needs. This workshop is to be seen as an emotional investment into your relationship. Being with another human is a skill, and it can be learnt to have a satisfying and happy relationship.

Couple Therapy with Focus on Parenting

When a child is having some challenges, sometimes it may be related to the parent’s married life and how they relate to each other. While supporting the child to work through their challenge, our psychologists offer support to the parents, too. Our professionals can help with disagreements about who is parenting ‘right’ and how things ‘should’ be done. Since the psychologist is an objective, unbiased participant, they will share their professional opinion about what is right for the child, thus making recommendations for the best child development and growth.
