High School Psychology Internship Program

This program offers a dynamic, hands-on exploration of psychology designed for high school students (Grades 11-12) who are curious about human behavior, thoughts, and emotions. Whether the student is considering a career in psychology or just interested in broadening their understanding, this interactive experience is a great way to enhance their academic and personal growth.
Program Structure
Week 1:
Introduction to Psychology
- 9 AM – 10 AM: Overview of Psychology Branches Activity: Short lecture, videos and group discussion on how these branches apply to daily life. Method: Use real-life examples and case studies to illustrate the branches of psychology and their relevance.
- 10 AM – 11 AM: Interactive Exercises to Understand Key Psychological Concepts Activity: Role-play: Introducing “Patient” and “Psychologist” roles for ongoing casework. Method: Role-play scenarios with feedback sessions to deepen understanding of psychological concepts.
- 11 AM – 12 PM: Group Project Kickoff and Role Assignments Activity: Students will be assigned roles as either Patient, Psychologist, or Advocate for their case. Method: Explain roles and expectations, then facilitate group discussions to brainstorm initial project ideas.
- 12 PM – 1 PM: Peer Collaboration and Reflection Activity: Collaboration time for students to discuss their roles and project ideas. Method: Group work and peer feedback sessions to refine project plans.
Week 2:
Real-World Applications
9 AM – 10 AM: Applications of Psychology in Real-Life Settings Activity: Short lecture and Case Study Exploration: Real-world applications of psychology in clinical, organizational, or educational settings. Method: Videos and using detailed case studies to demonstrate how psychology is applied in real-life situations.
10 AM – 11 AM: Real-Life Therapy Simulations Activity: Simulations of therapy sessions with participants playing different roles. Method: Guided role-playing exercises with scenarios to practice therapeutic techniques.
11 AM – 12 PM: Group Project Development Activity: Work on group projects related to real-world psychological scenarios. Method: Collaborative work sessions with mentorship and feedback to enhance project outcomes.
12 PM – 1 PM: Peer-Led Discussions on Session Learnings Activity: Discuss insights and learning from the day’s activities. Method: Group discussions and sharing of experiences to reinforce learning.
Week 3:
Exploring Career Options with a Psychology Degree

Week 4:
Final Presentations & Reflections
9 AM – 11 AM: Group Project Presentations Activity: Each group presents their project (case analysis and solutions). Method: Presentations with peer and clinician feedback to evaluate understanding and application of psychological concepts.
11 AM – 12 PM: Feedback and Evaluation Activity: Peer and clinician feedback on group presentations. Method: Constructive feedback sessions to highlight strengths and areas for improvement.
12 PM – 1 PM: Final Reflection and Certificate Distribution Activity: Reflection on the program and distribution of certificates. Method: Group reflection activities and certificate ceremony to acknowledge participation and achievements.
