Integrative care, explained simply

EMDR therapy in Dubai

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a structured, well-researched therapy. In 50-minute sessions, in person in JLT or online, your psychologist guides gentle, rhythmic stimulation while you briefly hold a memory in mind — and crucially, you don’t have to recount every detail out loud.

Fit comes before method
When something overwhelming happens, the brain can store the memory ‘unfiled’ — so it keeps intruding in the present as flashbacks, anxiety, or a body that won’t stand down. EMDR helps the brain finally process and file those memories, so they become part of the past instead of the present.

What EMDR helps with

EMDR is best known for trauma, but helps with more than that. It can help with:
01

Trauma & PTSD

single events or longstanding trauma held in mind and body.

02

Distressing memories

events that keep intruding, even years later.

03

Anxiety & panic

where fear is rooted in past experiences.

04

Grief & loss

processing painful or complicated loss.

05

Phobias

fears linked to a specific frightening event.

06

Low self-worth

shifting the early experiences behind negative beliefs about yourself.

How it works

How it works

01

Safety and preparation

We build steadiness and grounding tools first — you’re never rushed into the hard material.

02

Reprocessing

While you briefly bring a memory to mind, gentle left–right stimulation helps the brain reprocess it, lowering its charge.

03

Integration

The memory settles into the past, and we strengthen calmer, more adaptive beliefs in its place.

Common questions about EMDR

No — that’s one of EMDR’s advantages. You don’t need to narrate everything aloud or relive it blow by blow for it to work.
While you briefly hold a memory in mind, guided eye movements (or other rhythmic left–right stimulation) help the brain reprocess it, much as it does during dream sleep, so it loses its intensity.
A single, recent event can resolve quite quickly; longstanding or complex trauma takes longer. We agree the pace with you.
Yes, with a trained psychologist. We prioritise safety and grounding throughout, and go at a pace you can manage.
We direct-bill most major UAE insurers; send your provider on WhatsApp and we’ll confirm.
A gentle first step

The past doesn’t have to keep intruding on the present. EMDR helps it become a memory, not a wound.
