Trauma therapy & EMDR in Dubai

Trauma is not a weakness or a flaw in you. It’s the nervous system doing exactly what it was built to do, long after the danger has passed. A licensed psychologist works with you in 50-minute sessions, in person in JLT or online, using gentle, evidence-based approaches — including EMDR — to help your mind and body finally file the past where it belongs.
You can begin as you are
Something happened — maybe one thing, maybe many, maybe so long ago you’ve told yourself it shouldn’t still matter. But your body hasn’t forgotten. It shows up as being constantly on edge, as broken sleep or nightmares, as numbness, as reactions that feel too big for the moment you’re in. You may have learned to function around it — but functioning isn’t the same as free.

How trauma can show up

flashbacks, intrusive memories, or nightmares that pull you back.

02

Always on guard

jumpy, tense, scanning for danger even when you’re safe.

03

Numbness & avoidance

going blank, feeling far away, or steering around any reminder.

04

Sleep & focus

broken sleep and a mind that won’t settle.

05

Reactions that feel too big

anger, tears, or panic that seem out of proportion to the moment.

06

“It shouldn’t still affect me”

carrying something old you’ve long minimised or hidden.

How we work

How we work with you

01

Safety comes first.

Before we go anywhere near the hard material, we build steadiness and grounding tools together. You set the pace, and you’re never pushed further than you’re ready for.

02

Processing the past — including EMDR.

EMDR is a structured, well-researched method that helps the brain reprocess stuck memories so they lose their intensity. You don’t have to recount every detail out loud for it to work.

03

Reconnecting with now.

As the past settles, the present comes back — a calmer body, steadier relationships, and more room to be yourself.

EMDR is recommended by the World Health Organization and leading clinical bodies as an effective treatment for trauma and PTSD.

Common questions about trauma therapy & EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy that uses gentle, guided eye movements — or other rhythmic left-right stimulation — while you briefly bring a difficult memory to mind. This helps the brain reprocess the memory so it stops feeling raw and present. It’s one of the most researched trauma treatments available.
No. With EMDR in particular, you don’t need to narrate everything out loud or relive it blow by blow. Your psychologist works with you in a way that keeps you within what feels manageable.
It depends on the trauma. A single, recent event is often resolved relatively quickly; trauma that built up over years usually takes longer. Sessions are 50 minutes, and we agree the pace together as we go.
Both are possible — at our JLT clinic or securely online across the UAE and GCC. Your psychologist will advise if in-person is better for a particular piece of work.
Many UAE insurers are covered via direct billing. Share your provider with us on WhatsApp and we’ll confirm your coverage within a day, before you commit.
A gentle first step

The past doesn’t have to keep living in your body. With the right support, it can finally become something that happened — not something that’s still happening.
